Christmas school holiday activities 2020

Christmas holidays 2020 have been somewhat restricted due to COVID. We haven't been able to travel back to NZ or have NZ visitors. We were thinking of having a few days in Sydney but a recent outbreak there means that's out of bounds. Newcastle is still all clear though so we've been trying to make the most of the local attractions. Not helped by variable weather although at least it's not been too hot.

On Christmas we went for a walk/scoot along the harbour foreshore and in the evening we had fish and chips at the lake for a friend's sons birthday.

On boxing day we spent a few hours at the local pools, the weather wasn't great but the water was warm and it wasn't busy. In the evening we were treated to lobster risotto and great at our friends house.

Then (27/12) we had a beach day, we chose the right day for that as it was the only sunny day we've had for a while.

Then (28/12) we had a game of tennis and a colour challenge - only allowed to to eat food of one colour. I got brown (chocolate - yay), Claudia had red, Theo yellow and Jackie blue. We went to the supermarket to shop for the colour challenge, turns out there aren't many foods that are blue so poor Jackie lost. (no pics sorry)

Then (29/12) we went to Maitland, a city about 30min drive inland. We went to the Maitland Regional Art Gallery which is really good, then we went for a pub lunch. (no pics)

Today (30/12) we went for a bush walk from Redhead Beach to Dudley and back. It was about 5k total. Was a pretty narrow path in some parts and was a bit wet but it was mostly enjoyable.
